Google is in talks with labels about launching a streaming music service,  according to several published reports.  News of the possible Spotify competitor surfaced during negotiations over YouTube payments to labels and publishers.  Apple is reportedly exploring a similar service, as well.

For many teenagers, YouTube is already the music discovery site of choice. Adding music streaming could be a win for labels and is a logical extension for tech giant Google which already offers a download music store along with cloud storage and playback.

They'll be entering a competitive space including Spotify, Rhapsody, Deezer, Rdio and the sooned to be relaunched MOG/Beats/Daisy lead by Ian Rogers.
