Most digital distributors from Tunecore to The Orchard and CDBaby to IODA  deliver independent music to Spotify.  But I had not seen an alternative for artists that want to avoid all distribution fees or perhaps choose to offer a track only on Spotify. Founded almost a year ago, Spotmeup provides the answer with a simple and free Spotify uploader. DETAILS:

There is no charge to upload a song or album to Spotify using Spotmeup.  But to be sure you get paid for any streams that result, artists have to be a member of the appropriate rights organization.  According the Spotmeup FAQ:

"Spotify has deals with  necessary rights holders in all of its launch  countries. Together with  them, Spotify has agreed upon a royalty based  on how many times your  music is played. Each stream earns you a share  of Spotify's advertising  revenue. The actual amount varies and depends  on the ratio of  advertising revenue and your percentage of the total  number of streams  at Spotify in a given month."

"It´s important  that you have a  membership at an organization in your country, for  example ASCAP of USA,  STIM from Sweden, etc in order to receive money  from them. The  organizations act as agents for their members to collect  license fees  whenever their musical works are performed in public,  broadcast or  transmitted, and to pay out performance royalties."

There is a $10 Spotmeup fee if you want your music removed from Spotify.
