Hypebot presents the second episode of The Upward Spiral Podcast, which features Kyle Bylin of Live Nation Labs (and former Hypebot Editor), music industry consultant Jason Spitz (Former Director of Marketing at Topspin), and Hypebot's Hisham Dahud (also of Fame House). The three launched the podcast as a platform for conversations about interesting issues that face artists & music professionals.
The Upward Spiral: Episode 2 features these topics:
1. Is the Personal Music Collection Doomed? The idea of the celestial jukebox is powerful. Is it powerful enough to replace music ownership altogether? Some predict cloud storage like iTunes Match and on-demand services like Spotify are the future of music consumption, but despite the rapid rise of streaming and cloud storage, there are still many advantages to owning your music (either physically or digitally). What will the future of music ownership look like?
2. How Can Artists Capture Fans’ Attention in a World Full of Distraction?
The “attention economy” is the idea that the rapid growth of information has caused a scarcity of attention. All monetization starts with attention; before you can earn money from a fan, you need to get their attention first. Nowadays, everyone has a “voice” – but everyone’s screaming for attention. How can bands cut through the clutter?
