Thom Yorke: “There’s A Process Of Natural Selection Going On”

Thom Yorke new “There’s a process of natural selection going on right now.

The music business was waiting to die in its current form about twenty years ago. But then, hallelujah, the CD turned up and kept it going for a bit.

But basically, it was dead.”

  1. Why does Radiohead release cd’s, then?
Maybe he should tell Sony to stoping selling their cd’s.

  2. Gotta love a rock star let loose with the old sweeping statement. So thom you’re saying that before it peaked in the 90’s, before us lot even knew what the internet was, the music business was already dying?
woah what a deep trip thom
Sounds a bit ambivalent. Like a Radiohead tune. Sure this wasn’t the lyric sheet? Hallelujah halllllaylaylaylaylululuuuu . . . Twenty years! years! Dead! Dead! Deaaaaad all the CD’s dead dead dead

  3. that blurb doesnt explain the entirety of what he was saying in the full quote. he was implying that repackaging the same thing was never the answer. vinyl. cassette. cd. now that everything is readily available online for free, people should see how they were dooped for so many years. so yes, i agree with thom that it was dead before it was visibly dying.

  4. It’s a real hoot to watch people react to Thom’s ideas…I mean c’mon, he’s only one of the most successful, enduring, respected, talented and economically sustainable artists of our time…
Jesus Christ, who the fuck does he think he is?
PS…Now that the industry is becoming more realistic you music industry hack refugees can always go work for The Health Insurance Lobby…I mean they’re always looking for assbackward, soulless, malcontents who can shout down an intelligent dialog.
    Much Love,
