  1. “downloaded songs og all time”
    becomes…
    downloaded songs of all time
…still…I read this blog every day
    keep it up…

  2. Its crazy that with the exception of Journey’s “dont stop believing” all the songs are from the last 2-3 years.
And it should be noted that the popularity of the Journey song was re-ignited when it was featured on MTV’s faux reality show “the Hills”…crazy.

  3. I’m sure The Hills helped, but The Sopranos finale is what gave Journey the bump. That song was #1 the very next day I believe.
All the songs are from the last few years because iTunes downloads have gone up every single year since they started. The top downloaded song of 2009 beats out that of 2008, and 2008’s beats out 2007s…and so on and so on. And in general, pop crap will always top the charts.

  4. what happened to real music? we’re in trouble as a society if these are the most popular “songs”. i hope one day people will learn to think with the rest of their brains rather than their lubido. Maybe they’ll realize there is more to music than what they hear on The Hills and MTV (aka the other BET). *GASP* maybe we’ll see more artists who actually WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC! (i said “more”, i know there are some already here. its not enough). We are a nation of puppets. This is a nation where pop music is a cheap processed commodity, comprised of MSG and hydrogenated oil, monopolizing the airwaves and being forcefully fed into our mouths. Popular music is no longer about art. Art doesn’t sell. That’s why i mourn for our society.
