The Artist on the Verge project is aimed to aid aspiring artists who are judged to have the greatest chance for success to help break them into the music business. The finalists will be selected from over 600 artists in all genres and winners will walk away with over $40,000 in promotion, marketing, equipment and consultations from some of the top industry leaders in their respective fields.

From June 1 to July 29, fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite Artist on the Verge artists through OurStage.com.  It should be noted, however, that the project is not a contest, nor will any unsolicited submissions be accepted.

Qualifications:

The artists must meet the NMS contest criteria of never having been on a major or major independent label and must reside in the United States.  These artists must be selling concert tickets in multiple markets, music and merchandise sales and have a real buzz both off and online in terms of media coverage and other factors to determine if they qualify by the NMS Music Committee.

2 For 1 NMS Discount

And don;t forget if you register for NMS  by June 29, you will be automatically entered to win a Gibson SG Raw Power Guitar — valued at over $1,200; it will be given away at NMS at the NMS at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 20.

In addition, they are offering a 2 for 1 discount code for Hypebot readers.  After you put in your credit card details at www.newmusicseminar.com, simply put the promo code “nmsny2010” in and you will receive the discount and be enrolled automatically for a chance to win the guitar.

  1. Really??!! You can’t be serious! What “artist on the verge,” without any label support is going to be selling tickets in multiple markets, have a tour, press or merchandise. In most cases, the artist are only afforded these things, once they get some type of financial support (label, VC, Mom/Dad, etc) . Don’t think you’ll get 600 artists with this type of a “buzz” already established, but I suppose that’s the point.
