CrowdStream Delivers At-Event Fan Engagement For Artists

Banner-crowdstreamNew York-based CrowdStream is a mobile app that allows concert attendees to connect with fans and artists during an event. The free iOS and Android app has already seen success with bands like Motley Crue, Duran Duran, Neon Trees, as well as several indie and unsigned bands. Given the highly engaged fan environment that is the live experience, CrowdStream may act as a facilitator for increased revenue streams for bands.

CrowdStream is a unique tool because it enables artists to engage with their fans when they're naturally most excited – during the show. Fans simply download the app and follow artists they like, which can be automatically pulled from the artists in their music library and/or the ones they already like on Facebook.

Fans are able to socially interact with other fans in attendance, and can win various prizes from the artist through the app, ranging from signed merchandise to meet & greets. In-app purchases of ticket sales, merchandise, music downloads, and fan club memberships can create additional artist revenue as well. Performers can update their fans with exclusive photos, videos, and messages at the event, which can enhance the overall concert experience.

"We harness the ability to drive clicks from the fan's viral activity to a custom page, which generates incremental viral activity, ticket sales, and other key artist metrics," said Brian Bason, co-founder and CEO of CrowdStream. "This funnel has resulted in impressive numbers of viral sharing and incremental ticket sales in current tours."

Fans don’t even need to be at the show to be a part of the experience. They can check in and interact with a virtual event experience from anywhere. CrowdStream also has a feature to discover nearby events and new artists based on current geographic location.

CrowdStream is available for iOS download here, and Android here.

  1. Reminds me of Kyle’s “3 Insights into the Future of Geosocial Music” article. Cultural events may originate at a specific location like a venue, but thanks to CrowdStream, it spreads everywhere.
Does the app differentiates between people at the event and people joining in online? I know how people love to be able to say “I was there when this happened.”
Regardless, this is a cool way to foster a community and make a live music event larger than the its physical limitations. Can’t wait to try it out.

  2. This is really a very interesting app. I love attending concerts of various artists I like and I think this app is really useful. I will definitely be trying it.
