Google Brings Music-Focused YouTube+ Workshops To Nashville

Google-G-LogoGoogle is planning a series of free, open workshops for folks in Nashville. They'll be focusing on music and helping those who haven't embraced the Google empire do so with a greater likelihood of success. For most participants YouTube will be the big area of interest but Google will also provide experts covering such areas as integrating with "Google+, audience development and music publishing."

The report that Google is doing a year of workshops for musicians should be good news for Nashville.

Long a bastion for country and related music forms, Nashville seems very much of the past in many ways. But country is changing, rock is growing in Nashville and there are a lot of creative people and businesses there that could use YouTube and other Google services more effectively.

Google is said to be emphasizing:

"creator education, integrations across YouTube, Google Play and Google +, audience development and music publishing."

While some in the music industry have dived into learning about all these things, Jill Napier of Music Services Inc. (which may be these guys but The Tennessean doesn't link out and the site doesn't identify anybody) says a lot of folks seem to have problems with the basics and that she regularly works with companies that don't know what to do after their video is uploaded.

Though a YouTube Space in Nashville could actually unleash a lot of pent up creativity, that's unlikely to happen in Nashville anytime soon. But, given the need, workshops sound like a great place to start.

But you know what would really open things up? A mobile YouTube Space that could land in a place like Nashville for up to a few months and facilitate an outburst of YouTube activity.
