While you were sleeping late and over indulging last week, The Beatles offered a Christmas surprise, Spotify committed to change its ways, and the music industry - in particular, its lawyers - were busy with year end deals and legal actions.
Over the Christmas break:
1. Spotify acknowledged that their music publishing payment system was compensating writers and publishers properly and committed to overhaul it.
3. Songkick sued Live Nation for allegedly abusing power to stop direct to fan ticket sales.
4. Pandora signed landmark direct licensing deals with ASCAP and BMI and dropped their appeal in Rate Court.
