OFFICIAL: Prince Comes To Streaming This Sunday [UPDATED]

princeUPDATE 2: It's been music's worst kept secret for more than a week, but we now can confirm that Prince is coming to music streaming services this Sunday, the day of the 2017 Grammy Awards. In recent days, multiple sources told Hypebot that the arrival of the Purple One would happen this weekend.

Later yesterday. NPR confirmed that Prince's music will come to streaming this Sunday, quoting Napster:

"The rumors are true … music fans rejoice!"

Spotify also confirmed to Bloomberg that they will be adding Prince on Sunday.

UPDATE: Amazon and iHeartRadio Plus / iHeartRadio now also confirm that they will be adding Prince on Monday.

Would Prince Be Proud?

Just  in case your digitally addled memory has erased this, before his untimely death Prince was a very vocal critic of music streaming – particularly free streaming – pulling his music off all services except Tidal just last year.

The modern music industry has now officially turned the once negative term "exploitation" into what it is certain is a positive, but we're betting Prince would not be pleased.
