Tyler Perry proved that his shopworn 'Madea' character is still a box office draw as "Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween" debuted in North America to an estimated $21.6M, according to figures compiled by comScore. The Lionsgate-released film features Perry portraying the titular character Madea, an elderly black woman who first appeared on screen in 2005 in "Diary of a mad black woman" and has since appeared in 11 other Perry movies in the intervening years.
