Tomb Raider Tops Black Panther At Box Office

Tomb Raider 2018After a four week reign, Disney’s Black Panther was finally dethroned from the top of worldwide box office this week by Warner Bros. video game turned movie “Tomb Raider.”

Directed by Roar Uthaug, who is mostly known for Norwegian films, and featuring Alicia Vikander in the lead role as international adventuress Lara Croft, Tomb Raider earned an estimated $108.0M worldwide in its debut weekend.

However, only $23.5M of that came from North American box offices where Black Panther remained at the top, according to figures compiled by comScore.Black Panther, meanwhile, added $27M domestically and $57M worldwide, making the film 14th highest grossing title worldwide of all-time with $1,183 million earned through Sunday.
