Tina Turner, Todd Rundgren, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters lead Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021 inductees

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2021 inductees: Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z, Carole King, Todd Rundgren, and Tina Turner.

LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads will each receive the Musical Excellence Award. Kraftwerk, Gil Scott Heron, and Charley Patton will get Early Influence Awards, and Sussex Records founder Clarence Avant will be given the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

“This is our most diverse class in the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” said Rock Hall chairman and iHeart President John Sykes. “It really represents the Hall’s ongoing commitment to honor the artists that have created not only rock and roll, but the sound of youth culture.”

Double Inductees

Grohl, Turner, and King are entering the Rock Hall for the second time. King with her former songwriting partner Gerry Goffin, Turner as half of Ike & Tina Turner, and Grohl as Nirvana’s drummer.

“It’s very difficult to get inducted twice and we have three this year,” said Sykes. “It’s also a rare year where three of the six inductees are women: Tina, Carole and the Go-Gos. It just shows the continued power and relevance and recognition of women in music.”

The induction will be held October 30th in Cleveland at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and broadcast on HBO Max and streamed later on HBO Max.
