Mandolin acquires NoonChorus as music livestream consolidation continues

Mandolin has acquired competing live music streaming platform NoonChorus in what is likely to be one of many similar deals to follow in the coming months.

Details of the Mandolin and NoonChorus deal were not disclosed, but expect more consolidation as the crowded music live stream sector looks forward to a post-pandemic future that includes in-person concerts.

Earlier this year Live Nation bought music live streamer Veeps and more recently D.I.Y. live streamer StageIt was acquired by live music tech startup VNUE. In May, French DSP Deezer made a major investment in Dreamstage, the platform led by Thomas Hesse, former President of Global Digital Business and US Sales/ Distribution at Sony Music.

As for this new deal, Mandolin has deep pockets to help it survive this period of consolidation, including a recent $12 million Series A round. Noonchorus, on the other hand, has launched without any significant outside investments.

Most of the small NoonChorus team will be absorbed into Mandolin.

“Like Mandolin, NoonChorus was born out of the pandemic,” Mandolin CEO Mary Kay Huse wrote in a blog post. “They’re young and fast-moving, but knowledgeable and respectful of tradition – their team carrying years of industry experience and connections to help guide the industry toward a more prosperous future. They hold themselves, their shows, and partners to a high standard to deliver best-in-class services.”
