How to create an Amazon Music Spotlight and why you need to
Ever want to leave a personal message to your fans as they listen to your new track? Amazon Music‘s new feature, Spotlight, lets you add a custom voice message for any of your songs, so you can do just that. Here’s how it works…

Connecting with your fans on a deeper level is the biggest hurdle artists face in such a saturated industry. Personalizing the user experience for your fans on any platform gives them easy insight into your vision.
Spotlight allows artists (and their teams) to record/upload stories for their fans on Amazon Music that can be played directly within the Amazon Music visual app experience — as well as via Alexa.
How does it work?
From Profile & Tools within the Amazon Music for Artists app, choose any song, album, playlist, or station to Spotlight, then explain what makes it special. You can use this feature to:
- talk about the creative process or inspiration behind a new song or album
- highlight anniversaries and career moments
- promote a tour or livestream
- give some love to a collaborator
- share with fans what they’re listening to and why
Who can create a Spotlight within Amazon Music for Artists?
Label teams can create a Spotlight for any one of their artists, but you must be an Owner or Admin of a team in order to publish content. In addition, you have to have 3,000 or more fans to create a Spotlight.
Where does a Spotlight appear for fans?
US-based fans will find Spotlights at the top of an artist’s profile page in the Amazon Music app and via the activity feed. They can also ask, “Alexa, play the [ARTIST NAME] Spotlight on Amazon Music” to listen on any Alexa enabled device.
Easy as that.
I was all excited about this until I discovered that I must have at least 3,000 followers first, before I can use Spotlight ….
