Canadian rock trio Royal Tusk is gearing up for an epic tour across their home country as they embark on The Northern Light Co-headline Tour with BRKN Love. Kicking off on February 20 and running through March 16, the band will be hitting major cities like Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, among others. This highly anticipated tour comes in conjunction with the release of their third full-length album, Altruistic, set to drop on February 23.

After spending nearly a year writing during the pandemic, Royal Tusk took refuge in Alberta’s Audio Department recording studio to self-produce Altruistic. However, frontman Daniel Carriere’s journey to completing the album wasn’t without challenges. He found himself in the midst of a year-long battle to regain his health after suffering from a blood clot in his lung. Despite losing over 20lbs and struggling with his ability to speak, Carriere credits his fellow bandmates, Sandy on bass and Quinn on guitar, for helping him through the entire experience.

The songs on Altruistic were written before Carriere’s life-altering event, yet they still reflect a narrative of struggle, suffering, uncertainty, courage, and watching out for oneself. It’s a strange coincidence that the album now serves as a representation of the collective experience endured by the band during the pandemic. Carriere recalls, “When I think of them now, they definitely illustrate what we all went through.”

Royal Tusk faced numerous highs and lows throughout their journey, including a potentially career-ending illness. However, their unwavering determination, friendships, brotherhood, and tenacity ultimately prevailed. Capturing the raw emotions, sweat, and imaginative determination, their documentary showcases the creation of what is undeniably one of the most powerful rock albums of the decade. It’s a captivating story of passion, triumph over adversity, and the indomitable human spirit, redefining the perception of rock ‘n’ roll.

The band has already released four singles from Altruistic, including the recent “Here On Out,” which showcases vulnerable verses leading into a riff-boosted refrain filled with words of encouragement. The debut single, “All My Life,” combines Carriere’s heartfelt vocals with a head-nodding guitar groove. Additionally, “Head Up” delivers an emotionally charged vocal delivery, while “Relegate” stands out as a poignant love song about losing one’s ground in a relationship.

To ensure that you don’t miss out on an incredible night of live music, be sure to secure your tickets for Royal Tusk‘s upcoming tour dates.
