Spotify partners with Bandsintown to supercharge live music discovery

Shows listed on the global live music discovery platform Bandsintown will now also appear on Spotify.

The new partnership provides greater visibility and discovery for artists, venues, and festivals of all sizes at a time of rising costs and increased competition. The total number of live shows grew by more than 150,000 in 2023 compared to 2022, according to Bandsintown data.

Last year, Bandsintown shared 3.7 billion personalized recommendations to more than 1.5 billion shows, and Spotify saw a 10X increase in impressions for live events across its platform. Now, shows listed on Bandsintown will also appear in the personalized Live Event Feeds of Spotify’s 602 million monthly active users, on connected Artist Pages, and in the Now Playing View.

In 2022, Bandsintown partnered with Apple-owned Shazam to share tour dates with its 225 million active users, and more recently, Apple Music and Apple Maps added concert discovery powered by Bandsintown to their apps.

“Bandsintown is on a mission to help artists get discovered and sell out shows,” said Fabrice Sergent, Bandsintown co-founder and managing partner. “With Spotify on board, we are bringing artists and fans closer in a world where every show counts and every fan matters.”

“Our partnership with Bandsintown reinforces our commitment to help artists connect with and monetize their fanbases,” said Jon Ostrow, Associate Director, Growth & Discovery, Live Events at Spotify. “With more concert listings and data directly sourced from artists, this integration gives artists more control to update their tour schedules on Spotify and ultimately improves the fan experience of discovering and purchasing tickets.”

For Fans

The new integration of Bandsintown and Spotify also enhances the experience for fans, who can transition smoothly from listening to tracks on Spotify to buying tickets for live shows.

Fans have always been able to connect their Bandsintown and Spotify accounts to be notified by Bandsintown when an artist they follow is playing nearby.
