After $3.2M in May sales there’s a new Bandcamp Friday tomorrow
Bandcamp Friday returns this Friday August 1st. On select Fridays, the online music marketplace waives its revenue share, meaning more profits for independent artists and labels.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the last Bandcamp Friday on May 2 generated over $3.2 million for independent artists in 24 hours. Since its inception during the pandemic, Bandcamp Fridays sales total over $140 million.

This new Bandcamp Friday runs from midnight to midnight PST Friday August 1.
$1.5 Billion For Indie Artists
Even on days without the promotion, an average of 82% of every purchase on Bandcamp is routed directly to the musician or label, typically within 24-48 hours. Since launching in 2008, total Bandcamp sales top $1.5 billion.
New Bandcamp Fridays in 2025 on these dates:
- September 5
- October 3
- December 5
Coming Soon: Bandcamp Clubs
The platform is in the final stages of launching debut Bandcamp Clubs. They are being designed to offer “a new way for fans to discover music, connect more deeply with artists and each other, and explore monthly selections curated by genre experts.”
We expect to be able to share more details on Bandcamp Clubs soon.
Bandcamp also recently added independent radio station takeovers of Bandcamp Radio.
New Default Pricing
Last month Bandcamp changed its default pricing for digital music to bring the platform in line with new industry standards for Luminate and its Billboard charts.
New Bandcamp default pricing:
- Albums: increasing from $7 to $9
- Tracks: increasing from $1 to $1.50
Bandcamp it also made the change because it says it reflects what fans are already choosing to pay.
