Janet Jackson has struck a deal with publishers and artist services firm Bertelsmann Music Group to launch her own imprint Rhythm Nation and a new album.  Set for release in Fall 2015, the as-yet-untitled album will be Jackson's first studio effort in seven years.

Jackson's partnership with BMG makes Janet Jackson the the latest artist to quit the traditional record label system for a so-called artist services deal. Unlike a traditional record deal, under an artist services deal the artist retains ownership of their recordings and full oversight of all costs and revenues.

Set for release in the fall of 2015, the as-yet-untitled album was revealed by Jackson on her twitter account on May 16th.

“Janet is not just a supreme artist, she is a unique cultural force whose work resonates around the world. It is an honor that she has chosen BMG to release her long-awaited new album. We look forward to collaborating with her across every platform,” said BMG's CEO Hartwig Masuch.
