There is no single path to a career in music and John Torro is living proof.
The 23 year old was playing in bands around his home in New Jersey and making a little name for himself posting versions of hair band and metal cover songs on YouTube.
After he learned that former vocalist Jizzy Pearl had left Quiet Riot, Torra began posting audition videos of himself performing the classic band's hits like "Cum On Feel the Noize." Fans and Quiet Riot management noted that his vocals bore a striking resemblance to original frontman Kevin DuBrow.
Out of more than 700 applicants, Torra was officially announced as Quiet Riot's new lead singer on September 21st, making his live debut with them ten days later in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma
Music Biz Weekly Podcast co-hosts Michael Brandvold and Blasko explore this feel-good story and how Torra’s YouTube covers, online presence and enthusiasm from fans got the band's attention and compare his rise to the movie “Rockstar."
Both are also impressed by Torra’s talent and authenticity, and note the opportunity that Quiet Riot now has to capitalize on this renewed attention with new recordings and tours.
