Monday morning crowdfunding platform Kickstarter announced that it had surpassed $1 billion in pledges from 5.7 million people in 224 countries on all seven continents. More than half of that $1 billion has been invested in the last 12 months alone, a testimony to Kickstarter's impressive momentum.
The U.S, is the most invested country with $666 million in pledges, followed by the UK ($54M), Canada $44.9M and Australia ($31.7M).
1.68 million people have backed more than one project and almost 16,000 have backed more than 50 projects.
