(UPDATED) Consolidation in the world of artist management is heating up and Live Nation Entertainment is on the verge of a major pickup with an announcement expected today, Monday Sept. 19th, according to the company's chairman, Irving Azoff. His remarks came on Friday at a Bank of America Merrill Lynch investor conference in Beverly Hills, California.
"We are in the middle of an acquisition that we will announce Monday that is pretty major in the management area." Azoff said, without offering any insight into which management company.
The acquisition of a major management firm would strengthen Live Nation's existing artist management operation, Front Line, which reps a roster that includes The Eagles, Aerosmith and Christina Aguilera among numerous others. Live Nation acquired Front Line through their merger with Ticketmaster, which had acquired the company from Azoff in 2008 when he became CEO at the ticketing giant. – via CelebrityAccess
