Mercury Prize Announces 2014 Shortlist Filled With Newcomers & Surprises

The Mercury Prize, the annual music prize awarded for the best album from the United Kingdom or Ireland has announced its 2014 shortlist. Along with a few expected names, the list is dominated by newcomers including at least 3 jazz artists and for the first time ever spoken word poet Kate Tempest.
