(UPDATED) New York startup Stereotype.fm is shutting down after just 18 months. Last February,  the company launched a music messaging app, letting users send music as a message, reminder, gift or hug. Stereotypes had received $230,00 in Angel funding in the laast 18 months.

"For 18 months, Stereotypes has given people different ways to communicate using music," the two founders Jason Keck and Eric Bogs wrote on the site. "…As of today, the Stereotypes journey has come to an end, and my partner in crime, Eric Bogs, and I would like to thank everyone for being a part of the journey with us. "\
