Enjoying a peaceful moment by the ocean, a woman listens to music through earphones, capturing the essence of summer relaxation and outdoor leisure with scenic beach views and clear blue skies.

As lifestyles shift to active mode this summer, so will time spent on listening to audio, a medium they can consume wherever they go, according to a new survey.

A survey by research and analytics platform Vertonic of the listening habits of 600 regular streaming audio and podcast listeners found that nearly eight in ten respondents (78%) said that they are likely to listen when they are outside this summer, with 50% listening at the beach and 65% listening during other outdoor activities.

77% said they tune into streaming music, podcasts, or music during summer road trips.

During those road trips, music streaming beats radio and podcasts:  streaming audio with 72%, podcasts at 63%, and AM/FM radio at 58%.
