MySpace is the #4 most visited space on the web with more than 30 million daily page views. But MySpace is by far and away the top destination for music promotion according to a new Jupiter Research study far out-pacing Yahoo Music, AOL Music, MTV and others. "Music marketers should leverage community sites, such as MySpace, to recreate the feel of personal recommendations of friends," said David Card of JupiterResearch. The study showed that 48% of music discovery occurs between friends.

Jupiter tracked activity on the Black Eyed Peas at MySpace, Yahoo, AOL and MTV online. A
look at the Black Eyed Peas on MySpace today showed 337,455 registered friends, 3.8 million profile views and 4.5 million song plays. The other services generated much less activity. The study also found that 53% surveyed also discover music through video and 87% still sometimes find new music via the radio.TOMORROW: HOW BANDS USE & ABUSE MYSPACE.Sources: JupiterResearch, Digital Music News, MySpace, Alexa
