We Are Hunted combines activity on music blogs, social networks, forums, Twitter and P2P networks to create a daily chart of the 99 most talked about songs on the web.
You have to dig deep to find Britney and 50 Cent on the We Are Hunted chart. Instead almost unheard artists like Passion Pit, Bat For Lashes and St. Vincent – none of whom have registered yet on mainstream charts – are dominating the most recent online chatter according to the sites algorithms. As it should, the music does the talking on this chart: a single graphic, a play button and a buy link to iTunes are all that accompany each track on the chart.
