Controversial Russian download site allofmp3 has been neutered but mp3sugar is still selling deeply discounted downloads and more than one indie label is understandably unhappy about it. We asked Bill Swartzberg of small inide Anaphora Music to comment: "Our label’s Three5Human has tracks on mp3sugar.com. I feel better
about it since you (Hypebot) let us know that a $19.95 upfront fee is required. I have a couple of thoughts about the pirate sites:

I was able to find 15-20 sites
with different names that all put the user eventually to mp3sugar, so they have
been aggresive.- Of course, I have no way of
knowing how many sales were lost, but this site looks professional and displays Visa & Mastercard logos that makes it look legit enough for even web-savvy
people to order from. - We are also concerned about
the sound quality; the sample played from this site sounds terrible. In the
end, we could not only miss sales but lose fans also due to poor sound
quality.
Maybe persuading Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal not to deal with these sites is the quickest way for
results; this seems to have hurt allofmp3 more than any government crackdown
so far."
We’d love to hear from others about your experiences with and opinions of mp3sugar and allofmp3.
