PingTune (formerly called TuneIt) has raised $1.6M for a messaging app that can include a small snippet of music. The seed funding for the UK based startup came from Rupert Hambro, the former Chairman of Hambros Bank, and investor Dominic Perks. The iOS app is available now and pulls music from YouTube and Soundcloud.

“We saw that people were sharing music on social networks, but it can be clunky. Copying links between windows is hard work on a mobile phone," PingTune CEO Henry Firth told TechCrunch. "We wanted to make that process easier… so we built PingTune.”
