Spotify may have a big announcement scheduled for later today, but Rdio started Wednesday with a surprise of its own. Just days after naming a new CEO and major layoffs, the music streamer launched in 20 more countries. That brings it's total to  51, making Rdio the second largest music subscription service in the world in terms of countries serviced. Deezer has launched in 180 countries and Spotify in 28.

Countries receiving Rdio service for the first time today include: Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican

Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, South Africa, Uruguay, Venezuela.

New subscribers in these regions will receive free, metered access to Rdio web for up to six months and a 14-day free mobile trial. Launched in August 2010, Rdio is headquartered in San Francisco and was founded by Janus Friis, the co-creator of Skype.
