One day a year, music fans who prefer to listen to music on vinyl are rewarded with special releases that “validate” their interest in and passion. The Music Business Association is highlighting Records Store Day participants leading up to this Saturday's Record Store Day 2015.

It is important because for one day a year, music fans who prefer to listen to music on vinyl are “rewarded” with special releases that “validate” their interest in and passion for vinyl recordings. Many of the manufacturers (who are equally passionate about music in this format) go the extra mile to release albums, EPs and 7″ singles that would otherwise never exist. The releases are often beautifully packaged and in many cases are pressed in unusual shapes and/or colors, and because they are strictly limited production runs, these albums are very exciting to “hunt down.” Many fans visit several stores on Record Store Day to search for the item(s) they want!What was the first record you ever bought?

“Cathy’s Clown,” by the Everly Brothers (on the green Warner Bros. label). This was soon followed by “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett!Why is physical retail so important?
You cannot “download” the opportunity to gather with like minded people who share your passion for music.
