Proving just how important playlisting has become, Spotify, the biggest player in streaming music globally, has shared new playlist stats.

Spotify listeners are playing more than one billion streams per week from the music streamers own official playlists.

These curated playlists are handmade and organized around a specific mood, time, activity or genre. Some of these playlists, including Rap Caviar, Baila Reggaeton, Hot Country and Today’s Top Hits have audiences in the millions that tune in every day, according to Spotify.

A ‘feedback loop’ of real-time user data tells Spotify employed playlist creators which tracks listeners like and which they don't. They than add tracks that are trending and cut tracks that are starting to wear thin.
