(UPDATED) Economically battered music fans in Italy, Poland and Portugal are getting their first chance to try out Spotify, as the music streamer launches in the three markets today.  It is available both as a free ad supported service as well as a premium paid mobile service.

The three additional countries bring Spotify's total to 20. Spotify is also available in the USA, UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Luxembourg.

Globally, 5 million Spotify users pay for premium service out of 20 million active users.  Competitor Deezer has launced in 186 countries, but not the U.S.
