Spotify announced artist hosted playlists and shows more than a year ago alongside the announcement that it was adding video. They've slowly built a portfolio of artist and media driven playlists, but two new ongoing series suggest a major expansion of the offering.

Spotify has launched two new artist driven radio shows that feel a lot like an answer to Apple Music's Beats 1, and it appears that they're on track to launch more.AM/PM features artists Jean-Michel Jarre, Terry Hall and The Specials talking about and playing the music they listen. Secret Genius is helmed by producers and songwriters like James Blake and Ed Drewett talking about their own work. Both new shows sit alongside Spotify's gradually expanding Artists In Residence series which include the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones' Jonesy's Jukebox and media driven playlists from the likes of Brooklyn Vegan.
