Rather than focusing on what a trainwreck 2020 was for the music industry (among other things) now is the time to begin strategizing for 2021, and understanding how to maximize your digital presence in the coming year.
In this latest piece from MusicThinkTank, contributor Ross Barber-Smith outlines why your digital presence in 2021 will be more important than ever.
“I often say that music is a relationship business – and what I mean by this is that it’s often the relationships you have with your audience and professionals in the industry that are going to help you build and grow your career. When it comes to making these connections, a few ways your online presence will help you do this include:
1) Projecting a professional image (especially when connecting with people who work in the industry), by having your own domain, a strong website, and consistent social media appearance and usage.
2) Showing support for your fellow artists and businesses you like on social media – this can go a long way to cultivating relationships in the long term (and also helps share music and services with others who may be interested)”
