The ASCAP vs. Pandora trial was, as most civil trials are, about money. In the end, both sides and most of the media called the judge's verdict a draw. ASCAP didn't get any increase in its rates, and Pandora failed to get a requested reduction. If ASCAP had prevailed, however, the higher rate would have cost Pandora $21 million, even assuming a decelerated rate of growth.
