Even before launching, Apple Music is having a major effect on the marketplace. Following Apple's controversial move to offer free month trial subscriptions, Deezer is countering with an almost free 3 month trial of its own.

Music streamer Deezer has launched Europe-wide promotion offering a three month premium trial for just £0.99 / €0.99 ($1.11 USD). The deal runs now through a few days past Apple Music's June 30th launch. Last month, Spotify announced its second 99 cents for 3 months trial in the U.S.

Artists and labels are not compensated for music consumed during free and almost free trials.

Unlike Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify also offers an ad supported free tier. Deezer has more than 20 million free users plus 6 million paid subscribers,
