PledgeMusic Takes Website Offline
PledgeMusic, which suspended operations in February, has all but shut down its website. "The company continues to work with outside counsel on the most appropriate next steps, and we will update you with those specifics as we get more information," reads the home page.
Hundreds of musicians were left unpaid when the site shuttered. Some estimates of company debt range as high as $3 million.
To the Artists and Fans of PledgeMusic.
As many of you know, PledgeMusic suspended operations a number of months ago. The company continues to work with outside counsel on the most appropriate next steps, and we will update you with those specifics as we get more information.
With the site shutdown, artists are no longer able to download previous fan and order data.
The music crowdfunder had been expected to enter administration, the UK equivalent of bankruptcy, more than two months ago. The lack of activity and only occasional vague statements from the PledgeMusic board have angered artists and artists advocates. UK music trade groups have called for an investigation.
NOW @PledgeMusic has even taken down their website so we can't even check the status board for merch WE paid for but NEVER received. Sad part is the album is readily for sale, yet original backers are still without. @SteveVai @ZakkWyldeBLS @NunoBettencourt #PledgeMusicSucks pic.twitter.com/L4AvCpzWCx
