YouTube Won’t Negotiate With New YouTubers Union

image from cdn.pixabay.comYouTube has refused to negotiate with the YouTubers Union, a group formed last year to represent the rights of the tens of thousands of creators who earn a living on the platform.

The YouTubers Union recently aligned itself with IG Metall, a German metalworkers union that is the largest industrial union in Europe.

But while making some moves to placate the protesters, talking to the union is a non-starter.

“We explained to the union in great detail what YouTube is doing in terms of transparency and support for YouTubers,” a YouTube spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “But we have also made clear that we are not going to negotiate their demands.”

The YouTubers Union launched on March 2nd, 2018, with a YouTube video titled:

“Creators, Users… To Arms! Join the YouTubers Union.”
