Personalized Music Streamer Murfie Shuts Down Unexpectedly

Murfie, a personal music streamer and physical music storage service, has shut down unexpectedly. The company had raised $16.1 million to date.

Murfie users could buy, sell, and trade compact discs and stream or download their contents. Members could also digitize and store CDs and LPs at the Madison, Wisconsin based company.

The Techstars accelerator graduates sent an email sent to users late last week that they had “ceased operations” and the “senior debt holders of the company will determine the process by which you may retrieve any physical media that you may have stored on Murfie.”

A notice on the web site says simply: “Murfie has ceased operations.
We thank you for your support over the years”
