John Legend’s OurSong adds $7.5M to democratize NFTs for creators, fans

John Legend’s Our Happy Company has raised $7.5 million to grow it social NFT platform, OurSong, which launched earlier this year.

Our Happy Company was founded by John Legend, Chris Lin, the founder of KKBOX; and Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin. OurSong, is a mobile NFT platform designed to give creators, including musicians and artists, a more equitable way to generate digital creations, monetize their work, and build communities around them.

Creating, selling and purcahsing NFTs can be complex and OurSoing is working to simplify it for both creators and fans. On OurSong, creators can attach content and privileges to each NFT, including access to music, chatrooms, augmented reality experiences, and more.

“We’re focused on democratizing NFTs for the masses. This round of financing validates our approach and the success we’ve had in such a short time,” said Chris Lin, co-founder and CEO. “Since OurSong launched earlier this year, we’ve seen a community quickly grow on the platform as creators harness this technology to engage with their fans in new and unique ways.

This seed round was led by Infinity Ventures Crypto and Animoca Brands with participation from Cherubic Ventures, Circle Ventures, FBG Capital, Highstreet, HTC, Jump Trading, and North Island Ventures.

He has a proven track record, and we believe he is in the perfect position to democratize the creation of NFTs.”

Bruce Houghton is Founder and Editor of Hypebot and MusicThinkTank and serves as a Senior Advisor to Bandsintown which acquired both publications in 2019. He is the Founder and President of the Skyline Artists Agency and a professor for the Berklee College Of Music.
