Live Nation's "Concert Story Nobody Is Telling"

Amidst a myriad of ongoing legal and legislative challenges, Live Nation wants us all to hear "The Summer Concert Story Nobody Is Telling."

To paraphrase: forget Blue Dot Fever because ticket sales are booming and fans have more choices than ever "with options across every genre, venue size and price point."

“The goal is to provide experiences at all different levels. We work closely with artists and their teams to create options that accommodate as many preferences and budgets as possible,” says Live Nation President of Global Touring Omar Al-joulani.

Supporting stats: "Nearly 60% of tickets sold in the U.S. are priced under $100, and millions of fans have taken advantage of $30 ticket promotions and $99 lawn four-packs this summer."

Heatwave Causes European Festival Havoc

Historic June heatwaves across Europe forced governments and organizers to mandate major concert and festival cancellations, citing crowd safety and medical strain. Millions faced extreme, record-breaking temperatures exceeding 40°C / 104°F, prompting widespread live music disruptions including:

  • Defqon.1 (Netherlands)
  • Solidays (France)
  • Katy Perry at Werchter Boutique (Belgium):
  • Fête de la Musique (France)
  • Paris Pride (France)

Illinois Ticketing Bills Signed

Illinois is taking a swing at live event ticketing corruption with a newly signed package of consumer protection bills aimed at leveling the playing field for fans, independent venues, and artists.

Signed by Governor JB Pritzker (D), the legislation targets all-in pricing transparency (HB 228), which outlaws hidden "junk fees" and forces ticket vendors to show total costs including processing and facility fees upfront starting January 1, 2027; an immediate ban on speculative ticketing (HB 4984), making it illegal for secondary brokers to list or sell "ghost tickets" they do not actually possess; and a strict crackdown on automated scalping tools via the Prohibition on Bots Purchasing Tickets Act (SB 318).
