Warner Music To Launch Warner Sound YouTube Channel With Original Programming

Warner Music Group has joined a growing number of major music companies including Pitchfork, Fuse and Bonnaroo in launching dedicated YouTube channels. Featuring exclusive new content from the label group, the channel will debut with live webcasts of WMF artist performances from SXSW from March 13-15, featuring T.I., Santigold, B.o.B, fun., Kimbra, Chuckie, Ed Sheeran, Theophilus London, Gary Clark Jr., Dr. John, Wale and others.


Other content will include a film series by Cee-Lo Green dubbed ManTazia, as well as a documentary series by Michael Rapaport, the man behind the Tribe Called Quest documentary "Beats." The channel will also carry "The Live Room," a series of live, "intimate" performances by WMG artists, including B.o.B. and Regina Spektor.

According to Variety, Ocean MacAdams, who had previous toiled as senior VP of programming at Current TV, has been named as GM of the Warner Sound and will oversee programming. Phil Botti, formerly Vice President of video content at Atlantic Records will serve in the role of exec. producer for the channel.

Warner Music is the only major label niot distributing content thorugh CEVO. Yhis YouTube endeavor is a part of a wider effort by YouTube to create new content offerings on the web video service.
