sheeranFollowing the Friday release of Ed Sheeran’s new album ÷ (‘divide’), he smashed streaming records and stormed the global charts, including almost doubling the previous first day Spotify album streams for an artist. Sheeran is currently the most streamed artist there, with over 45.5m monthly listeners.   • Best First Day streams for an Album 56,727,861 streams, almost doubling the record set by the previous record holder, The Weeknd’s Starboy, with 29m streams in November 2016
  • Best One Day streams for a track: Shape of You: 10,123,630 streams (breaking his own record of 7,940,950 set on January 6th 2017)
  • Best One Day streams for an Artist: 68,695,172 streams (smashing the previous record holder The Weeknd with 40.3m streams in November 2016)

Chart Moves

  • ALL 16 tracks from the album went straight into the Spotify Global Top 50 streaming chart
  • 15 out of 16 tracks from the album are on the Spotify US Top 50 today
  • ALL 16 tracks from the album are in the Top 50 in 13 markets (UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland)
  • And in the UK (and Ireland) the 16-track album IS the entire Top 16 of the UK Top 50 Chart
