Spotify App Soundrop Grabs $3.4 Million In Additional Funding

image from s3.amazonaws.comWith funding totalling $6.4 million Soundrop wins the prize as best financed Spotify app. Today, the music discovery app and group listening platform, announced it has secured additional $3.4 million from Northzone and Investinor. The company's initial Series A netted $3 million from Northzone in June of 2012, after a November 2011 launch

Soundrop offers users individual rooms dedicated to a genre, single artist or band; so that fans can gather to listen to that bands music. The rooms are filled with tunes already, but anyone in the room can edit the playlist, add new songs (only from that artist or their collaborations), and of course talk to other listeners in the chatroom, according to Evolver.fm.

“The rooms are made automatically whenever someone clicks on the artist,” Soundrop head of partnerships Cortney Harding told Evolver.fm. “No one owns the rooms, though. Artists, labels and management have to come to us to get admin rights.”
